Religious Worker Visas to United States



Religious worker visa is for a religious worker who wants to go to the U.S. to work for a genuine non-profit religious organization or denomination.

Religious worker visas is R-1.

R-1 Visa: As a minister of religion or at the request of the organization, or an organization affiliated with the denomination, in a religious vocation or occupation, whether in a professional capacity or not. All applicants for R1 visa must receive a USCIS-approved petition (known as a I-129 Notice of Action) prior to applying for a visa from the DHS. Spouses and/or unmarried children under the age of 21 who wish to accompany or join the principal visa holder in the United States for the duration of his/her stay require derivative R visas. Spouses and/or children who do not intend to reside in the United States with the principal visa holder, but visit for vacations only, may be eligible to apply for visitor (B-2) visas. Spouses and dependents may not work in the United States on a derivative R visa. If seeking employment, the appropriate work visa will be required.
